“I knew early on that I wanted to become an ophthalmologist and was awarded a private scholarship and accepted into medicine after 2 years of CEGEP (a pre-university college) in Quebec at the tender age of 18! The microsurgical precision that is required is one of the reasons why I chose this specialty along with the incredible feeling of joy I experience when I preserve or restore vision.”
Dr. Payne obtained his doctorate degree and completed his ophthalmology residency from the University of Montreal School of Medicine. Prior to starting residency, he attended New York Presbyterian/Columbia University Medical Centre to further his ophthalmology training.
Dr. Payne has built a successful career in general ophthalmology, cataract and refractive surgery, and oculoplastics. He began his career in Quebec where he owned and operated a private surgical facility for 14 years. Every summer, he would also travel to northern Quebec to provide medical attention to a severely under-serviced region. In 2021, he relocated to Florida to join Associated Comprehensive Eye Care.
